Parent beds There is the facility for fold down beds or reclining chairs to be used in the oncology cubicles on the ward or beside the beds in the other cubicles. The two designated oncology cubicles have outside access through small balconies.
There is also a parent area through a door next to the oncology cubicles which has a 2 single bed room, another bedroom and kitchen facilities and a sitting room. (This is being refurbished in the summer 08 - so watch for pictures!)
The ward is devided into three sections;
Yellow - oncology designated area, where day cases are handled ( lumbar punctures and central line insertions)
Blue - the teenager and young person area (oncology patients may go on here sometimes)
Green - Babies and the isolation nursing (if patients are admitted with chickenpox or other infectious conditions that stop them going in the yellow area.) There is also a high dependency unit with 4 beds should patients require extra oxygen for example or other monitoring.
