The closest cash point is in the atrium next to the WRVS cafe and shop. It is Abbey National.

Reception
The main atrium is large with WRVS shop and cafe (not to be confused with the Tower Block entrance over by A&E. If you take the lift next to the stairs and then turn right and along the walkway you come straight into the Childrens ward/centre.

Public toilets
On the right just past the WRVS cafe and information point in the main entrance. Has baby changing facilities too!

Telephones
You can use mobiles in the rooms on the ward but NOT in the main entrance - you will be asked to turn them off!

Inside the hospital......

Parent beds

Each room is en-suite and has a reclining chair. If you need a bed just ask and they will try to get you one - usually possible!

If you dont want to stay in your childs room there is the Ronald McDonald suite upstairs with 10 en-suite bedrooms, a communal kitchen and a lounge plus laundry facilities. You need a security pass though so get it sorted with your nurse before you go up!

Visitors

Flowers and Plants
Because of the risk of infection from bugs that live in the stagnant water that flowers go in it is best not to have flowers because of the other patients.

Televisions
TVs with DVDs are available for each room (and usually in there when you arrive). Playstations and DVDs can be hired from the play staff. They need to be signed for as so many disappear but there is a good selection. Play staff only work during the day though so if you want something to watch in the evenings then sign out a few!

Playrooms and Play Leaders
There is a playroom in the unit and a general one on the ward. Play staff can usually be found in the general one but they will be told when you are admitted and will try to come over as soon as possible to see you.
The playroom is open from 8.45am - 6pm.

Education
The hospital teachers visit all school age children on the ward. The aim is to continue education as normally as the child’s illness allows. Close contact is maintained with the regular school and they will try to follow what was being taught before admission. The classroom is on the ward by Workstation B and the teachers are there 9.30am-11.30am and 1pm -3pm Mon - Fri.

There is a small room on the unit with tea and coffee making facilities, a fridge and microwave.

There is a Fish and Chip shop on the main road opposite the hospital

Hospital parking is barrier operated car parks with ticket machines outside and inside the building in all entrances. Approx. £2.30 for an hour Dont need cash it will take credit cards as well!
